Atari Punk Console HELP

Post by WaveForm3 »

Ok, guys. This is it. I need help bad.

I learned about the Atari Punk Console literally 24 hours ago. I love it. I must have it. But apperently, you can only build it.

I can't build things. I can't solder. I have literally nothing and don't know where to get anything.

Where can I get started?

Thanks in advance!

mmm. I love my APC.
For a complete list of parts you'll need and even some hi-def pics of the completed board, go here
http://www.natemc.com/news/?p=293

You'll definitely need some basic soldering experience and tools. Learn as much as you can from
YouTube and the rest of the internet before you start your project. That's really all I can tell ya'.

here's my 2-in-1 APC

Alex over at http://www.getlofi.com has begun selling his own APC kit. This may be an easier way to get your feet wet before trying to make something from scratch. It will introduce you to the basics and you will have something feasible to play with in less than two hours most likely. Um, and it's cheap as shit. Um, and Alex is a great guy who will be very helpful if you have questions. Um, and he makes a SICK LoFi delay kit as well...go...

Ok, finally got the kit from getlofi in the mail, gonna replace the huge ass battery pac thing for a clip so it'll fit in my altoids tin, and possibly replace the button with a switch (why they did that is lost on me!)

Something might be shorting out? That's only thing I can think of... Or, a wire might be snapped in two, and it only connects when it's open?

Altoids boxes are the shit for building in.

sounds like something is hitting the other side of the case when you close the lid and grounding out. try covering the entire inside area with electrical tape.

Ok, I'll try that.

I actually ran out of wire while building the damn thing, and so my wires are solder in two, so I think some of those (solder blobs) might be touching.

But that will change when I rewire the whole thing sometime this week!

Thanks for your help!

yeah, anytime you have to connect to wires like that, wrap that in a small square of tape as well. :thumb: i know devi wraps the entire board in electrical tape, that probably wouldn't hurt you either.
