An L-6 reissue. For more than the originals go for.

Didn't they do this already with the grabber anyway?

gibson can suck it since they left michigan, imo. heritage guitars are fuckin class and quality. pete moreno used to do gibby finish work and he still lives in kalamazoo and does guitars. awesome dude. plus all the other original gibson guys obviously they are at heritage, in the very same building that gibsons were made in.

Gibson are trying to make an army of cybermen. It starts off all innocent like but then one day you wake up and realise your SG X-3000 has converted all your other guitars to robot guitars and having gained sentience they now won't play anything other than lawyer blooze.

Heritage makes killer guitars. I have a 535 and it's the best gibson-type guitar I've ever played.

I may want to look into the original version. After looking into it, you guys are totally right. I wish someone would right the ship at gibson though. sucks to see another american company putting out crap and bilking their former glory.

gibson are putting out some great products. perhaps not everything they do appeals to everyone, but it's a much more complicated market now than back in the 50s-70s. it's funny to watch all the criticism here of gibson and fender, references to blues lawyers, racist comments about mexicans working in the fender factory. but no one is forcing anyone to buy anything.

I'd rather an L-6 reissue than an L-6 'Future Tribute'
Prices are nuts on most Gibson guitars so not really surprised there.
If only they would reissue the SG-Z..

Ok, so you seem to be having a dig at me. That's fine but I think you have totally misconstrued my comments. What I posted in the Fender Japan thread was in fact not a comment on the workmanship of Mexican workers (I was not saying that it was shit BECAUSE they were Mexican, in fact I wasn't saying it was shit at all). I was merely pointing out that the labour force was very similar at both factories and that perhaps the American made guitars were overpriced because the MIM's quality these days is just as good with the exception of the hardware. Why did I point out the fact that they a lot of the workers who skip between the factories are Mexican (besides the fact that they are)? It's because it made my point easily understandable (which reading your comment perhaps I failed in).

Second of all I'm not (nor have I ever been) of the opinion that Gibsons are "blooze laywer" guitars. I spend a lot of time on TGP, the fictional kingdom of the "blooze lawyer" (sometimes I admit to my regret, but not for that reason) so any accusations as such would be tongue and cheek to say the least. My dig at Gibson robot guitars was simply an attempt at humour and mostly an excuse to make a Doctor Who reference. That is all. Personally I like the fact that Gibson is trying to innovate even though I find the results questionable aesthetically although functionally I'm sure they are great. I will never know because I can't afford one.

Also in the future it would be advisable not to passive aggressively accuse somebody of being a racist, just say it to their face. Alternatively just keep it to yourself. I don't mind because I'm not particularly sensitive but that certainly isn't true for some and nobody needs the ugliness that would ensue on a internet message board. We come here to discuss gear and have fun not question peoples fundamental life views.

these types of comments have been made by many here for a long time. it wasn't a dig at you--your comments were just the most recent, and my intent was more general. i would have made my post regardless of who made the comments. i just find the drama here and on other boards (including tgp, osg, etc.) humorous. cliques and camps are not my thing. and while i agree that gear should be the focus here, comments frequently prove otherwise. it's human nature. i apologize if i offended you--i was trying to make a larger point. i'm usually ignored here anyway.

btw, i'm fascinated by perth. i visit perth in scotland a couple of times a year, including next week, and if i ever visit australia, the west coast is my preference. it looks like a lovely place.

Hey cheesecats, don't worry about it :thumb:. Like I mentioned, I'm not easily offended.
I've always wanted to go to Perth in Scotland because I'm a big Scotch whisky fan. If you're not big on racism then be aware that Perth, WA, it's an increasingly conservative mining city. It also does suffer a bit from small town syndrome despite being quite populated and the music scene in particular is hard to crack unless you're a local. Overall the inner city is nice enough but make sure if you ever come and visit you get down to Fremantle. Lots of historic building, good food and decent music for the most part. The surrounding countryside however is really beautiful. I prefer down south myself because I love the rivers, Jarrah forests and generally cooler weather but if your more of a warm weather, ruggedly beautiful landscape and amazing beaches kind of guy then up north is the way to go. The further you get north the more tropical it gets as well so stuff starts to get quite interesting and if you like fishing you will have an amazing time. Just be aware that some places (one particular example I can think of is Monkey Mia) is a bit crappy and tourist village-y and you don't necessarily get much choice in terms of accommodation due to the fact that the population is fairly sparse and spread out.

I also get your point about comments here not always being about the gear. In fact this is probably the least gear focused guitar forum I have ever been apart of. Suppose I kind of like that.

cool, twang, and thanks for the info on your area. i usually like to visit places a bit off the tourist trail. if you are a scotch whiskey fan, you must have heard of talisker. fylde, a luthier in penrith uk, offers a guitar and mandolin (i have the mando) made from washback staves and aging casks from the talisker distillery:

http://www.fyldeguitars.com/mandolins.html

and i agree that straying from the gear a bit makes it more real and interesting. cheers!
