Some ILF worthy sounds from a new box I made

Post by kevinhifi »

I just put together another one of my multi-effect boxes using some of my little no-knobber circuits and some other popular circuits. This was spec'd by a customer, and man does it make some cool sounds. Here's a very ILF-ish sound sample with all of the effects on. Half-way through I flip a switch I put in there that makes the phaser speed a lot faster than stock.

Offect order is: MXR Blue Box -> my Purple Octopus (octave up/ring modish) -> my Bluebird Fuzz -> Lovepedal Pickle Vibe -> MXR Phase 45

Enjoy,
Kevin

Curious what you think. I'm not sure it's the type of thing that gets the TGP crowd going, although I did get a "Whoa!" response over there.

Shit, I totally spaced when I got home last night. Had some dishes to do. Gonna set a reminder in my phone for tonight when I get home!

That sounds fucking rad as shits! :D
Did you build every circuit in it or is it partly a rehousing?
Funny, your little boxes seem kinda like the tiny Cusack stuff only exactly the other way around. :)

Wow, surprising resurrection of this thread! Here's the only photo I have of the box - unfortunately no gut shots.

Image

The circuits with the pretty stickers are my own. The vibe is a rehoused Lovepedal Pickle Vibe. The others are essentially stock MXR circuits done on project boards from Tonepad.com (I use them a lot for this sort of thing because they use nice little square boards that are just the circuit (no integrated knobs, jacks, switches, etc.). It's an MXR Blue Box and Phase45.

It's the MXR Bluebox into my Purple Octopus that creates that haunting sort of rubbery low sound. The fuzz adds the super sustain. The vibe makes it spin, and the phaser adds the madness. Jesse, the customer, is a mastermind at conceptualizing these things.

Dayum. Very cool, but I couldn't help but want a couple knobs and only one footswitch ;)

Ha. Well there is a master on/off for that exact purpose. The knobs...I'll put some on the outside when people want 'em. For this one, two speed knobs for vibe and phase would be handy. Customer wanted none because he's playing modern classical with a very picky composer/conductor. He needs to truly set and forget.
