celestion G12M(55) for baritone?

Post by Forrrest »

I seem to have problems running my baritone guitar into regular guitar speakers, too much low end.
would these speakers handle the low end?

I assume they're the original version of the G12H(55)

or should I just suck it up and get some EV12L or some bass speakers?

You should probably get a bass speaker. They will be of a higher wattage, and voiced more to better suit the low end.

I will always recommend the Eminence Delta Pro 12a. It's cheaper, higher wattage rating, and a bass speaker BUT has no coloration of sound like most bass speakers do.

Unless you really really dig the sound of speaker break up, I'd probably go for something with a little higher wattage. What is it that you are running into these speakers?

I do like speaker break up, but at a certain point speaker breakup isn't necessary when it's backed with, fuzz pedal & overdriving amp
Orange OD120 (but if I get a quad of 30watt speakers I"ll pull two tubes and run it at half wattage)
I should just stay away from low wattage speakers.. (but they're only 550$ for the quad.. damn good price)

Delta Pro 12a...hmmm, ever tried the EVM12L?

Never tried the EVM12L before. Buuuuuut if you did get a quad of the Delta Pro's you'd have 2000w of power handling for about $100-150 less :thumb: hahaha
