So I've been using 2 loopers (DD7 in loop mode for 40 seconds of looping + Line 6 DL4 for 20 seconds plus half speed) looping. A good 80% of the music I create is through loops.
I would ideally like to condense and have more loop space while still being intuitive enough to loop pieces on the fly
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the following:
Is the Boomerang III intuitive?
Do you find that you NEED to spend the money on the side car?
Does the Boomerang ever get confusing to loop with?
I had a Boomerang+ which I enjoyed until I got the DL4 which took its place for the half speed
Similarities I noticed between the Boomerang III and the DL4:
Start / Stop
Play Once (?)
Stereo input and output
Halfspeed
Loop volume
Things that I find would be benefits over my dual setup:
Control multiple banks of loops via 1 pedal
Less board space to do more
Detune
Fade
Loop length (?)
If I could get some opinions from people who have used or use Boomerang III's that would be awesome.
THANK YOU!

Another question I have is in overdubbing- can you simply 'stack' on a loop channel with the Boomerang III? I guess I should watch a video for that one

I'll throw in my $0.02 on this tomorrow when I have more than just my phone to type on. But basically I believe the Rang III is the best. Ability to start and stop up to 4 independent loops, stack on top of individual loops, easy touch buttons... LOVE IT! I owned the sidecar for awhile and loved the extra space for options but I really didn't use the extras enough to justify the space it took up. I want to type more but my laptop is downstairs so it'll have to wait. But long story short... the Rang III easily beat out every other looper I tried.

AND I love that I can run my guitar line into the left channel and a vocal line into the right channel, have them loop sync'd, and send the guitar portion of the loops to a guitar amp and the vocal portion to a different amp (or send). K done for now.

Re: Boomerang III users, lets have a discussion
If I got the Boomerang I'd probably sell my DL4 for cheap and a Moogerfooger or two. I have some thinking to do
So just for clarification, after you dub once on a loop channel you can tap that channel again to dub over top of it without having to press another button?

Re: Boomerang III users, lets have a discussion
Stacking works as follow…
I’m not familiar with the model of Boomerang looper you have had in the past so apologies if I cover things you already know inside out.
Buttons Loop 1, Loop 2 and Loop 3 are only used to select, start and stop loops.
The bonus buttons are used to select, start and stop actions; Stacking (that’s the way overdubbing is referred to in the RANG III functions) being an action, one bonus button will be used.
By default (factory settings) the yellow button will be used for stacking. The stacking scenarios and possibilities will slightly differ depending on how many loops are playing and the play style (the way you have decided to use the RANG III) you have selected.
If one loop is playing and you press and hold (as opposed to tap, so no need to hold it for long) the Yellow button set to the function Stack, you will start recording a new layer on top of the existing recording. Press and hold the yellow button to stop stacking. Press and hold it again to add another layer, etc. if you press the Loop button of the loop currently used for stacking you will stop playing it and you will end the recording/stacking too.
If you are using Loop 3 as a master loop (play style is set to Serial-Sync) and a slave loop (any other loop than loop 3) is playing at the same time, the stacking will occur on the slave loop. But if the master loop is playing by itself and stacking is still engaged, you will start recording on top of your master loop.
If several loops are playing at the same time, you will need to tell the RANG III where you want to stack your new sonic layers.
Press and hold the yellow button then select the loop onto which you want to add stuff by pressing its button. Recording/stacking will commence once you have made this selection.
You can also queue loops to be stacked. Let’s say Loop 1 and Loop 2 are playing. You want to add a different layer onto both of them. You press and hold the yellow button and select Loop 1 and whilst you are playing your overdub part you press Loop 2. When Loop 1 will reach its end the RANG III will stop stacking on this loop and will start recording on Loop 2.
Evidently you can start stacking right after recording your first initial loop. Just press and hold the yellow button before the end of your recording. When you are done with recording your loop, press the Loop button, the RANG III will immediately start looping whatever you have played and it will also start recording/stacking so you can start playing your overdubs. Press and hold the yellow button to stop stacking, press and hold it again to start stacking again.
Two last things about stacking: you cannot stack on top of a loop that is fading out and if you want to record a drone, you can remove the slight fading out (10ms) effect that is added at the end of the stacked pieces by changing the Stack Optional Behavior.
Now the thing is you can assign the actions/functions to the bonus buttons the way you want, and you can even make one of these buttons a 4th loop that will behave like loop 1 or loop 2 (loop 3 is slightly different as it can be used as a master loop). Each bonus buttons can be assigned 2 functions. You’ll access function 1 by tapping the button and function 2 by pressing and holding the button (like the stacking function!)
This is why the Side Car is convenient: the most used functions have their own dedicated buttons (Stack, play/stop all, erase/erase all). This in turns allows you to permanently assign one the bonus buttons on the RANG III to Loop 4, as well as assigning other function to all the 3 remaining bonus buttons you have (there another set of bonus buttons on the Side Car)
Also note that the Side Car adds a new stacking feature. You can set the dedicated Stack button as momentary or latching (as it exists on the RANG III). Momentary, as the name suggests you will be able to stack whatever you want as long as you keep the Stack button pressed if you set the behaviour to momentary. Pretty cool.

Re: Boomerang III users, lets have a discussion
Yep, Glenouille pretty much covered all of the Rang III bases. I was going to sell my setup to a local buddy because I acquired an M13 and figured that looper would cover what I needed. I was sooooo disappointed with the Line 6 looping. I think the biggest thing I love about the Boomerang is the fact that you can have 3 (or 4) independent loops which you can start/stop as you wish. Not having these on the Line 6 looper really was a loss. Fortunately my buddy ended up not being able to come up with the cash for the Boomerang setup so I got it back and sold the Sidecar on Ebay (needed the cash). The Rang III is officially on my keeper list from here on out... I won't make the mistake of letting it go ever again.
