Since i have limited knowledge in regards to circuitry id figure id start by taking apart some old radios and mayby moving onto some simple DIY projects
Voltmeter (DC) Voltmeter (AC) Resistance Continuity beeper (beeps when measuring low ohms/a connection between two points) Diode checker
Capacitance is however missing on that list and from what i read i should be looking with something that has a capacitance function to supposedly change the scale to farads(correct me if i've got this wrong)
Is there a easyish way to calculate this without the function or am i better off grabbing a different model multimeter before i start fiddling
Just about any digital multimeter you can buy will serve your purposes.
When building effects, the most important features are DC voltage and resistance. There really aren't many times that you will need to measure capacitance.
If you are looking for a cheap meter just to get you started, Harbor Freight often sells their bottom-end meter for about $3. I have a few sitting around as spares, and they work reasonably well.
Cheers Mike, ill order a cheapy and grab a fluke or something if my skills progress that far. Doubtful ill be making that much progress that quickly though
