Rangemasters into clean amps

Post by pieceofshit »

thinking of getting an arc effects gamut. i have a music man 112 RD and an acoustic 140.

does anybody use treble boosters into amps with lots of headroom? does it sound sick? or is it too trebly? :idk:

thanks broooos

Rangemasters sound excellent with dirt, but this Gamut demo sounds decent with a clean Hiwatt.

I play a Gamut with both settings around 1 o'clock with an aluminum guitar into an absolutely clean amp. The Gamut is always on. I like to think of it as the hair on my scrotum of a clean tone. Little whisker here and there, little growl when you stroke it. :thumb:

In a non-perverted way, I seriously do keep it on 24/7. It boosts, clarifies, and really widens the dynamics of really any guitar I feed through it

I put the Gamut pre big muff, it brightens it and pushes it so much it turns into a distortion!

Guess I should rephrase that. Kind of acts like the PRE control on the Musket, in that it cuts through more

I understand what you are saying though, it acts as a preamp in a way, in that it shapes what is to come after it and provides some more juice. Sometimes I find when I put the fuck OD before a fuzz it brightens the fuzz up too much for my liking and I like it dark. Although, I do like the added dynamics and extra oomph it brings.

Lately I have been using the monarch as my PRE fuzz pedal. It's a nice toneshaper that doesn't brighten up my tone unless I tell it to! I would like to get my hands on a range master type pedal at some point - either the Gamut or the sparkle motion!

I had the Sparkle Motion for a bit before I got the Gamut. It can't get as dark as the Gamut can when the tone control is cranked compared to the Gamut. But it can do the Fuck crackle

I do a similar thing with my doomidrive, crank it with the gain low (it's an older model so even less than the new ones anyway) and never turn it off.
