Im planning on picking an ipod touch and using garage band just to record single close mic’d youtube demos. the goal is portability/easier than carting my macbook/imac and interface around….
anyone have any experience with the IRig Pre?
care to share any recordings?
or any other suggestions?

I'd never heard of it before now; Just read several reviews, seems half decent. Have ordered one.

Good deals with: PumpkinPieces, maz91379, allicio, nelsinian, tomlane95, casperh7, insubordination, bronzetalon

If you think latency might be an issue when recording look for an interface that plugs in the bottom instead of the 1/8" jack. The one I'm eyeing is the Apogee Jam. It's about $60 more than the iRig pre but I think it'd be money well spent.

There's a few huge threads about this sort of thing over at Talkbass in the effects forums but yeah for multiple reasons most people are saying to use an interface that plugs into the 30-pin or lightning connector instead of the headphone jack. Mostly for noise issues and less for latency though if I recall.
