A/DA GCS-2 (DI box/cab simulator)

Post by amorphous »

Picked one of these up a few months ago:

http://www.adaamps.com/Products/ada-GCS2/GCS2.htm

here's a little A/B i did direct vs mic'd with a 421:

pretty cool piece...while not perfect, it's pretty damn cool to not have to worry about waking the neighbors at 3am but still being able to track some good tone! :thumb:

Damn those look really cool and it sounds almost identical... I like the stereo part... Also you are in good company on Soundcloud; it suggested this on the bottom, Uttara Ashada, Al Jazeera, John Legend...

yah, it really shines with fuzz/od/distortion - anything with gain - clean, not so much!

my soundcloud homies!

Cool. Had my eye on the Surprise Sound SE-5 for awhile

http://www.surprisesoundlab.com/ssl-26_009.htm

But have yet to buy. This looks superior, but the Two Notes Torpedo CAB looks like the mother of all all cab/mic sim pedals:

Now to find $550...
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

When you use the A/DA... is there still an amp involved?

Nope, it's meant to be a replacement to having an amp/cabinet

That one looks scary. I don't think I'd trust it with my superbass. I think it would melt.

EDIT: i see now where it's only 5 watts....OK....

actually, so does that one, but not in the same way!

I have a feeling the CAB would be much like my Timeline - so many settings and i use just a few!

This is neat...it would be nice to not have to lug a amp/cab for the noise shows I plan on doin.
