sunn beta bass combo

Post by scabiosa »

Hi guys!!

I'm interested in a sunn beta bass 1x15 combo. But I see it has only 100 watt RMS... Is it loud enough for small gigs and for some heavy stoner sounds?

I can trade my bassman 70 for it (+some extra cash) because I don't use it anymore for guitar since I've got my Laney KLIPP, and as a BASS amp it just has not enough balls for me.

Beta Bass is cool. I had the Beta Lead for a while and it ripped. My friend has a Beta Bass that he uses 4 Coleseum Slaves with into a few 8x10's and a 2x15.

As far as sound goes for the preamp- you'll dig it, it can growl if you want it to, clean if you want it as well. I'd say going through a 15" you MIGHT need an extension cab with it, but then again Sunn 100w is far different from a lot of other SS ratings I've tried

I have both Beta Lead and Concert Bass heads--like Skully said, Sunn's 100 watts is stronger than most but with just the 15" combo cab you might be struggling a tiny bit. A good boost pedal may help with that...if the speaker can handle it...
Special low-frequency version.
