NPD-New Particle Day!

Post by RitalinCupcake »

Ordered one direct, took a little over two weeks to get it(said 2-3 week wait on their website). Just had a little time with it tonight, it's pretty awesome. Lot's of different sounds and a little tough to get the hang of at first. I know a few of you guys have one, any settings or tips?

No settings per se (I never write stuff down - it's either set-it-and-tape-the-knobs-down-for-all-time or improv settings every song with me). But definitely check out the vids and documentation. Some if those knobs can definitely get really sensitive in certain settings, so I'd definitely take it slow as you're experimenting - inch them along a wee bit at a time.

And heck, if you find anything you love and you do write stuff down, definitely share it here!

The particle is overwhelming, I love it but just finding a sound I like in some modes takes a lot of twiddling, switch modes and it's back to twiddle town. I don't even remember what mode (think it was pitch side/density mode) but I had some lovely pitch bent trem thing going on last time I used it, then it got really cool when I used a LFO into the Exp jack to vary the length of the "trem" from wide spaced short blips to mostly on with short off blips. Then I just played a simple riff into it for like an hour until my phone rang.
I've been searchin' for the dolphins in the sea.

:p Not too likely. I'm sure I'll figure it out. If not I can always just send some oscillating fuzz into it and let it do it's thing, hours of entertainment right there.

Thanks for the other tips, small adjustments definitely needed.

I think Behndy uses his pretty regularly in his live sets. He may have some pertinent and sage-like advice here.

Actually, Red Panda has a couple of vids that show off some sample settings nicely. I hope they do more like these.

There's a wait list? Daaaaamn I did not know that. Not sure whether to get on it because of uncertainty about being able to pay for it when I come up, might just wait till I can definitely afford it. Any idea how long the wait is?
