another noob-ish request: I recently got this weird orange fuzz box, that wants to be powered by a 1/4" stereo cable. I'd like to convert it to a standard battery snap, but I'm not sure what's what.
the blue & purple cables are ground, assuming red is +, what is orange?
it looks more like maybe a bipolar supply is expected? +/- and gnd?
it looks like the ring and tip both have connections on them and that there is some sort of diode protection, probably to prevent problems when inserting and removing the cable? those are just guesses but it deos not look likr you have a circuit that is expecting straight up old +9v.
edit: if your actually using batteries you coudl try it with 2 snaps. if you are using a dc power supply its a bit ugglier.

this reminds me of all the guitar stuff in the craig anderton book that had dual supply. it must have been popular back then. sometimes I find datasheets from the 60's where they announce this new technology (single supply opamps). my guess is that multi_S is correct. I would only like to add that its probably +/-15v. you can deduce the pinout from the placement and direction of those rectifier diodes. it might even be possible that this is made for AC power that gets converted by the diodes and the two blue caps. if those are power filtering caps, they are small. maybe you should trace the whole thing and post a schematic? we can help you more with power and you can share your fuzz.
