In the title. I know there was a thread about duos a while back, but I'm curious if anyone knows of good one-person acts. I'm looking along the lines of heavy, metal, rock, etc...but anything you think is cool either. All I can think of off the top of my work-fried brain is Thrones. Saw him open for Old Man Gloom in Seattle and it was pretty fucking heavy for just being one dude up there.

Does it have to be stuff that gets played live, or sounds like it could? There are some solid one-person projects here on ILF...
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I'm looking for live, in this instance.
Preston used a bunch of amps, that's kind of a no-brainer. But besides that he just had a drum machine and a boomerang. I think.
I'm looking for ideas on how to get a bigger, fuller sound by myself in a live setting, since I can't find a goddamn drummer and/or practice space.

Yes, you will need an upright bass, an Echoplex, a Maestro Rhythm 'N Sound, a Boomerang wah and an Ampeg amplifier.

As long as I don't have to wear the suit.
@spacelordmother: that stuff's pretty cool. I, too, want to avoid overusing the loops and layers thing.... Although I wouldn't be opposed to using a sampler with pre-recorded sounds. Not riffs, just sounds.
Anything else?

Last time I saw Lichens Rob Lowe was doing the one-man RC-20 thing. Shit was amazing.

There are a lot of good one man black metal acts. I think we had a thread about those a while back?

This is live, except the "overture"
http://theronaldraygun.bandcamp.com/album/abaddon
If I had been planning on recording I may have integrated some beats or something.

I need to actually RECORD some of the looping stuff I've been doing recently.. I was really happy with the results I was coming up with using a DL4 and a DD7 as loopers. Just need to figure out a way to store beats. Might see a RC2 in my future
