6x12 cab, series or parallel?
Working on building a 6x12 cab, but should I wire the speakers in series or parallel?

Depends on the ohm rating of your head. What are you going to run into it?

I have an Egnater Tweaker that I modded and swapped tubes in. It's a mean little bastard. I can run the output in 4, 8, or 16 ohms.

Ah well that's good that you can run it multiple ways. What are the speakers rated ohm wise?

I have mostly 8 ohm speakers, looking to get some new ones to try out. What would you suggest for the most bang for the buck? I prefer a lot of low end because I run that with my Sunn Beta Lead thru an ABY pedal which is mostly highs.

I think Delta Pro's come in 8 ohms, and you'd be able to wire them in a bunch of different ways having 6 of them and having a head that runs 4 8 or 16. I've got a Delta Pro and it sounds huge. It's a bass speaker, but doesn't sound stiff on guitar. They've got a ridiculous rating too, something like 300-400w per, and are around $100?

Interesting, so would that blend well with any other deltas to match the punch of the Pro's? because if I could, I'd like to layer from top to bottom 2 of each. Get 2 with good highs, 2 with more mids, and 2 with low end.

Not sure to be honest. I've only played the Delta Pro 12FCL or whatever it's called. But its pretty great for low end

Awesome! So series or parallel? which works best?

Re: 6x12 cab, series or parallel?
Found this guy:
"Each speaker will see the same current when in series. Whereas the lower impedance speaker will draw more power than it's higher impedance mate when wired in parallel."
But honestly, its up to your ears as long as you wire it in either a 4 8 or 16 ohm load. 8 ohms is probably the most common, and you'd be able to daisy to another cab if you wanted to to make 4 ohms

Re: 6x12 cab, series or parallel?
So series is definitely the way to go. Equal load to all 6 means they all work as hard as each other. Makes sense.

At the same time, you could always run in parallel and have the lower wattage speakers being pushed a little harder if you like that sound

Re: 6x12 cab, series or parallel?
How will it affect the sound if I did parallel?

Not sure, I think it'd be something for your ears to decide, and I'm not sure if it would be too noticable of a difference
