Awesome, cheap, loud, bass amps?

Post by Fuzzy Picklez »

So, I need to know what some really cool, relatively inexpensive bass amps are.
I'm looking to buy a bass amp in the coming months, and really can't figure out what I want.
I'm not picky over the whole toobz vs. SS thing, as long as it's pretty solid.

Mostly interested in heads. It sounds like Sunn, and Acoustic stuff is up my alley, but I don't know much about specific models.
I don't really have a budget, but if I did, it would be $500ish for the head.
Any suggestions folks?

(suggestions for cabs are good too. I'm sort of stumped on what to get.)

If you are not concerned with tube vs. SS, the most bang for you buck will probably be a used Peavey.
For $500 you should be able to get a monster head and a 215 cab.

:poke: I'm sure someone with more knowledge on them can chime in with specific model #'s.

Gallien Krueger 700rb II used! Fucking thing is awesome! You can get a head for like 300.

I know of a nicely priced 70's Acoustic stack down here in Buffalo if you're up for picking it up and dealing with the border... I was going to buy it but my Bassman combo is doing the job

BOOM. TS-200 would rule, or any of the TS series. Or a tube head. Or one of the recent ones.

I dig the recent ones. The YBA-200, and 300, but both fall a bit out of budget.

I've seen two used 200s pop up for under $600, and I've been awfully tempted, but broke both times.

I have seen a few of the TS-200s pop up for pretty cheap. Worth it?

Which models? I know the chick from Warpaint uses one, and she has sweet tone.

Unfortunately, I do not drive.
Otherwise this would be quiet tempting. Thanks for the heads up.

The HA head amps are what I have experience with, and they're pretty good (Achtane can back me up). The cabs they make also tend to have a nice midrange response.

Dude, TS-200 is so worth it. Roughly the same pre-amp from the TS-50, and way more watts. If you get one and hate it, I'll buy it from you.

Cooool.

I'm thinking I might go for the Monoblock II now, since I just saw a band play, he had one, and the bass tone was the best part about the band.
Wicked sound.

Also, sub $300. Yeee.

You should be able to pick up a TS200 off CL for $250-300
Next up, see if you can find a matching set of 9x8 TS98 cabs :joy:
That would be plenty loud.
