NPD: Wampler Leviathan

Post by WeHuntKings »

It's probably the best fuzz for doom.

...Seriously. Set it to rumble crank the bass and set it it to mid-gain and it sounds like Dopesmoker or Burning Witch with a detuned guitar and humbuckers. The roar mode is a tad too nasally for my tastes, but that may be the shitty amp I'm playing through at the moment. Can't wait to blast it through the v4 and the 2x15 cab I have...

I know Wampler is kinda TGP for the most part, but any fuzz loving metalhead should check it out. Super loud and earthshakingly bassy. And it stacks like a champ too.

My bandmate LOOOOOOOOOOVES his Triple Wreck. I'm very intrigued by the Leviathan.

Oh, you!

I will have to check 'em in the morning. But check them I shall!

You guys are kinda cray cray sometimes.

Who cares about the name on the pedal?

If it sounds great, just play it.

Me? I don't give a flying fuck about the name. I have a digitech death metal on my board for chrissakes... :omg: I just see Wampler as kind of snooty for some reason, I think it has to do with the way they market themselves and the abundance of overdrives they make. Overdrive love = TGP to me? :idk:

I dunno, I'm dumb and I don't make any sense.

I certainly don't see a lot of Wampler love around here. They make some great stuff though, I am pretty intrigued by them now, I must say. I can try to get some rough clips up tomorrow, but excane's stuff will be waaaay better.

For the first time ever, I am not compelled to turn the gain all the way up 100% of the time. This thing really excels at foggy low to medium gain stuff, and it also works super well with your guitar's volume knob. I like having the gain turned up a little past 50% and rolling back the volume for murky, dark, grunty fuzzdrive and then crashing back in again to full volume to riff away.

Yeah, I never really gave a shit about names and whatnot....if it sounds good to me, that's what matters.

Of course, I'll still hate on brands that have proven to be shit (at least to me) but I still use Boss, DOD, blah blah, etc....

Wampler makes good shit. Yes, they appeal to a lot of TGP crowd and some of the overdriveeeyyyy stuff I'm whatever about, but once he started listening to the heavier crowd - he delivered.

I'd agree with you, but I mean there's no way I can touch your recording setup with my lack of microphones and audio interfaces at the moment.

I really want that Triple Wreck, they're just too damned expensive for a distortion pedal to me. For the most part, if I want distortion like that I'll just turn my amp up/slam it with a boost or something. If I'm using a straight up distortion pedal, I want it to sound crusty and fucked up.

But I like the idea of turning whatever you're playing through into a Triple Rectifier.

I remember seeing a Wampler Orange amp overdrive pedal somewhere...Has anyone played one of those here?

Here's one I actually forgot I recorded. It was before I mic'd up the cabinet:
