Headless Guitars/Basses

Post by WeHuntKings »

Does anyone here have one? I've been gas'n super hard for one of the kramer aluiminum necked ones, but I don't really know anything about them. I remember seeing a video of Placebo and David Bowie playing 20th Century Boy together and the Duke was rockin' a headless geetar. Thought it looked super cool and easy to play.

They're also considered travel instruments too, I think?

Headless aluminum Kramer basses are going SUPER reasonable on Ebay. Never played one, but they look rad as hell and are super tempting. I think you'd be killing two birds with one stone if you picked one up!

I almost bought a used left handed one like Rhondo sells.
It was less than a stomp box, kind of fun and didn’t sound bad.
Also it weighed nothing.
The having the controls under my arm just wouldn’t have worked out.
If it had been a right hander I probably would have impulse bought it.

Sweet T. Rex cover.

That is probably the worst design for a guitar I've ever seen. Not because it doesn't look cool (although I'm not too keen on the silver and wood combo), but because the body going up the neck like that would make it impossible to play above the first five frets.

but maybe that's just because I have horrible technique.

Yeah, hence this thread...I would do it if I didn't need a new computer so badly! I am more interested in getting one of the guitars though, even though I do need a better bass than my humble Squier P-Bass.

I like that Teuffel thang, but I'd never play it. The Steinberger's and Kramer's however are just the right kind of 80's retro-futuristic for me. I'd feel like I was in Bladerunner with one of those things. :joy:

Yeah dude. Kramer aluminum guitars (headless or otherwise) have been on an upswing this past month. There seems to be some sort of Ebay sensus that agrees that they should jack the price of any and all aluminum guitar a lot higher than the bass counterpart. You can go and get a Kramer 450 bass for $550, but the guitars go for $400 more. It's nuts dude

Yeah, I was wondering about that...super weird.

I really need another guitar so can stop using my strat as a sludge machine. It seems wrong somehow...I need something more suited for the job.

You should push it even further...get the Hello Kitty strat.
Or a glittery Daisy Rock.

It's not the looks, I just don't think the strat snap works for the sludgey stuff I always do. And like I've said in other threads, the neck annoys the shit outta me right now haha.

I may tune it back up to standard and take the lace sensors out in favor of the noiseless strat pups I have and use it for the twangies.
