End of Chain Overdrives

Post by 01010111 »

Lately I've been running my memory man into my laney cub12r set real gritty. But I'd rather set the amp clean and rely on a pedal for the grit; this way I can loop the awesome gritty signal and play something different over the top of it.

I know a lot of people here run an overdrive at the end of their chains, so I was wondering what everybody was using/what people would suggest. I was kinda thinking of gettin a snowdrift, or a monarch maybe but I don't really know what would work best for this.

I have the Catalinbread Formula No. 5 and RAH at the end of my chain right now. I also have the Fuck, but I have it closer to the front.

Neih love you avatar, saw them in DC back in the 90's.

I use a Fausetone Valvu Klipper last in line.

I've also had nice results using an Owen's Bass Gremlin, a Real Tube, a nd a Dave Hall VT-1.

Yeah the fuck at the end of a chain is pretty awesome. Im using my dwarfcraft plane ticket plus at the end of my chain and delay going into it is pretty glorious.

I use an English Muff'n and have used a SHO boost in the past. But the fuck sounds excellent with a delay into it and that especially applies to the Memory Man variety.

The RAH  The between the graphic that's reminiscent of both led zeppelin and metropolis, and that fantastically responsive sound I think this might be it.

However, after watching this vid of the fuck

I'm genuinely split. I remember not being much impressed by it in the tourbox, but this is really close to the sound I'm getting.

How much does the fingerprint color your original sound? Judging by this video it makes everything sound a little boxy (in a really cool way, but not really what I'm looking for right now). It might just be youtube compression.

If I could afford it I'd get that valve klipper above all else on this list. It's dead sexy in every sense, but that price  I guess $300 is kinda my price limit on this. Is this the Real Tube you used Metalmariachi? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Real-Tube-12AX7A-by-Tubeworks-/390428751090?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item5ae75df4f2#ht_810wt_1037
