I'm over oscillation.

Specifically oscillating fuzzes. Just the whheeeeeeoooohhhhh over and over again. I'm getting bored.

(except the 4545, because it's reactive to your playing, and just meshed well with me)

I never really got the appeal of oscillation. I mean, I like making noisy soundscapes as much as the next person, but I don't really see actually basing a song around an oscillating fuzz.

Yea I used to try and do that. But most of the time in like... "ah turn that skreeching sound off!" That was a big reason I liked the 4545, it can do the annoying squealing sounds, but it did this wall of static noise that just fits in with what I wanted to do. On the other hand it can be gated. It's honestly one of the only oscillating fuzzes I've liked. :trippy:

I like it because I like snatches of noise in music, I love songs getting more and more intense and then there's just this fucking noise because fuck playing notes, there's just a point where I'm playing guitar and things get way too crazy for me to keep playing normally. :idk: Also I quite like soundscapy noise music, and oscillating fuzz is great for turning a pedalboard into a noise synth.

I woke to set them up to a pitch and play single notes around it lIke a portamento esque effect. It's great.

I'm back and forth on oscillation. That's why I make my pedals with switchable oscillation. :thumb:
There when you want it, gone when you don't.

Edit: Oscillation is a lot more effective with a good delay and modulation after it.

Rarely use it. When I do I just dial something subtle so a hint of chaos will slowly creep in behind my playing if I don't keep things moving.

Best use of full theremin oscillation I ever made was to clear a neighbor's backyard band practice one evening during finals week. Just the pedal self oscillating into my Pathfinder pointing out the back door and swept the pitch down like a 3/4 step after a minute so they couldn't retune to it. They stopped and I got back to studying. (They were playing some awful, caterwauling indie light crap. Doom probably would have shrugged it off.)

I dig oscillation if you can clean blend or kind of burry it. I think that full on oscillating fuzz can be a little too much at times, but totally something to work with and an interesting challenge and makes me think and play differently when using it.

I still like fuzzy oscillation in short bursts, but it's a hard thing to spring on others who have more traditional tastes (kinda like anal). And if you kick it in on unsuspecting bandmates, you get that look like when you tell a joke and nobody else in the room gets it :wha?:

I like to oscillate. :)
I like when the oscillation is controlable, the AB-Synth 5k is perfect for that.
