Three pickup wiring question

Post by foomanfat »

Okay, so I'm getting a RI Tele Deluxe from my buddy in a couple of weeks and I want to equip it with a third humbucker in the middle position.
The only problem is, I can't wrap my head around wiring it.
I've thought about getting a guard made with a Jag switch plate on it, or one with a Strat 5-way switch.
I've also thought about wiring the neck and bridge normally and then having the middle wired to an on/off switch, so I could combine it whenever.
I really don't want to use one of those "Jimmy Page" switches. Too precise for my taste.

Any advice? Thoughts? Criticisms?

I personally like individual off/on and a master volume, but I think the normal three-way switch (neck/both/bridge) and a middle toggle would be good too.

Okay, so I think I'm set on the Jag style switches, I just need to figure out where to put them.
I don't know if I should go where the regular switch is, or bottom horn below the neck pickup.
Also, don't know if I want to try to work the Jag plate in there or mount them straight to the guard.

Decided to go with the three on/off switches on the top horn and a master volume.
Would anyone know how to go about wiring the three switches to one pot?
