at a show by the Wildhearts in NYC 2 nights ago. i've always known about them but never thought they'd be my thing so i never checked them out. i know their zenith was prob early/mid 90's when that straight ahead guitar thing wasn't so popular here in the states.
anyway....i had no expectations other than a loud les paul and a ginger haired singer.
apparently the shows were sold out (good sign)....i gave the correct hand signal and got in for free, perfectly at 10:15.....they go on @ 10:30....kool.
so ... i ... decide to have a couple shots (i very very rarely drink but think alcohol and rock go well together)....
damn....i got fuct up quick.
.... i'm waiting for the band to start...they are late. i notice that there is a beautiful asian girl that is just captivating. i can't keep my eye's off of her. she keeps looking at me so i just move to a place where i can't see her....she prob thinks i'm lusting after her but in reality i'm looking at her and thinking that she looks like my daughter....and i'm thinking how lucky i am to have a such a wonderful family. not very punk rock thoughts and reminds me that maybe i need to get out more and relax.
so i have another shot....
the band comes on.
fuk.
god damn good stuff.
i love punk rock. i love the sing-a-long style chorus'....simple guitar lines, chunky at times. fun stuff played well by a bunch of fukkers that have been playin' together for a long time. good little band.
it sounded great. from what i have now gathered, they were performing a release they did 15 years ago that was said to be the big one (earth vs. the wildhearts). so i guess i saw something special in a wildhearts show.
maybe they are a metal band now and suck.
maybe they are covering mary hopkins on the weekends...i don't know.
i do know that i get so caught up in doing my own shite that i forget how much i enjoy simple fukking rock.
the moral of the story is this:
i'm old and look at chicks differently than i used to.
i like to combine alcohol and live music.
