I am lying in bed wide awake just after midnight, wondering if anyone has tried a RRR before their dirt pedals?
I will try myself tomorrow. I have quite a few fuzz & od's to try it with. I would post clips but unless I use my iPhone it may be a hassle.. I can promise pics though
Thoughts?
And would you say it's time to crack open each others' skulls and feast on the goo within?

I tend to like reverb after everything BUT recently I've been digging a Dispatch Master (set to a decent amount of reverb and short delays) infront of The Elements. Sounds huge and messy.
Reverb into dirt definitely isn't for everybody but I think it sounds cool too, big and messy for sure. I love the sound of fuzz into reverb though.. fuzz into really slow chorus into reverb. But yeah, then more dirt after that, why not!
So it was a productive day! No pics or clips yet as I am meant to be studying for my exams..
I tried the RRR before:
Dr Scientist Frazz Dazzler Dr Scientist Elements Dwarcraft Shiva Wattson FY-6 Superfuzz NicoFX Wild Wild West fuzz SmallsoundBigsound Fuck Overdrive EHX Muff w/tone wicker
Consensus? Hell YES the RRR is now permanently before dirt. I loved it before the Frazz & the Fuck the most, liked it almost as much before the Elements (although my Elements is set for low-mid gain). I didn't like it before the Muff, WWWest and FY-6, but all three of those pedals I use on their own anyway. The Shiva after RRR I am undecided as I liked it when set at its more 'normal' fuzz, and less so when set all starved and glitchy (and this is how I use it). Although I am going to explore further the glitchy Shiva modes with delay..
I enjoyed the experiment so much; RRR into Fuck (set to always-on 'fuck') then my Tremolessence is a new tone that I definitely will be using on my upcoming recording. I moved my volume pedal to the start of my chain and my new combo for swells is Vol Pedal > RRR > Elements > Sunny Day Delay. Talk about massive post-rock ambience!
All in all, this has opened up a whole extra cache of tonal options and versatility for my RRR, and I am doubly pleased that it meant I could move my volume pedal & tuner to the start of my chain and still love my tone. In fact I love my swells more than ever now. It also means my incoming Bluesky will sit at the end of my chain (it was feeling a bit redundant to consider having both reverbs at the end) Reverb sandwich!!
I hope this has been mildly informative for some people, I'll take pics tomorrow with some of my settings.
reverb before dirt rules!!!! I found the key is to set the mix lower than you would normally if you were playing clean to keep in under control. Well, that is if you want to keep it under control.
Ugh, finding this thread and not having band practice tonight is going to make me tear apart my board again. I already had some different placement ideas... Might be time for a change and ditch the PT2 anyway.
I love putting verb before fuzz to get a really distant, chaotic heap of fuzzy reverberations. It is an interesting technique for foggy, grey atmospheric chords and hazy noise undertones!
