Can you change the switch on an EH Freeze?
Excuse my ignorance... I'm still new to what I can and cannot do with pedals. So my question is can the footswitch on the EH Freeze be changed from what comes on the pedal to a "soft" switch (is that the correct term?). Basically, my thinking is I'd like to reduce the loud clicking each time I freeze something and would love to put in a switch like Ryan used on my DS Reverberator. Is this as simple as just soldering in a new switch? I believe, from what I've read, the switch in the Freeze is a momentary switch. In my mind it should be a simple mod... am I totally off base on this?

Yes, the Freeze has a momentary switch. FWIW, I don't notice much of a clicking when I hit the switch, and I've never gotten any artifacts trapped in the held note. Does yours?
I'm not a DIY'er, so I'll let other chime in on how easy it is to do.

I've seen the mod done and I don't believe it would be hard to do. Can you open it up and take a picture? I'm thinking you could really honestly just desolder the old foot switch and swap in another

I do get a click when I press the switch... it's really only a big deal when you're playing soft. But listen to something like Bill Frisell's NPR Tiny Desk Concert where he uses it quite a bit and you'll hear the clicking. http://www.npr.org/event/music/14615647 ... sk-concert (the first I noticed was the double click at 1:24 in the video to stop what he had sustaining... there are more instances in this video buy I have to get the dogs out so I can't finish it right now).
I did find this site (http://www.mattgallagher.me/tag/electro-harmonix/) where he replaced the switch for the same reason, the clicking, plus he was having issues with the sustain cutting off. But it shows that it is do-able. He used a SPDT switch... so, I guess any recommendations on those?

Here are a couple pics of mine. I didn't remove the switch but I have a pic of another one removed down below from the page I linked above..
And here is one of it removed from the link I posted above:

And my answer has been found. I'm going to basically just do the same as is shown in the link I posted. Big BIG thanks for Ryan (Dr. Scientist) as well as the two of you above for the replies.

Well, to follow up on this..., I got a new switch from Ryan (Dr. Scientist) on Friday... thanks again! It is now installed and works perfectly. Exactly the change I was hoping for. No more clicking when I engage the Freeze. And, it probably only took about 5 minutes from the point where I started unscrewing the base, de-soldered the old switch, soldered the wires to the new switch and I had it all put back together and on my board.

Glad it worked!
If someone offered this as a package (modded Freeze with soft-touch switch already installed), I'd be all over it.

Good deals with: PumpkinPieces, maz91379, allicio, nelsinian, tomlane95, casperh7, insubordination, bronzetalon

It's a simple enough mod that if anyone wanted it done you could just send me your Freeze pedal and the new switch and I would install it for no charge (you'd also pay for return postage). I could probably turn this around in 24 hours so if you sent it Priority Mail (in the US) you could probably have the pedal back within the week. If anyone is interested just PM me.
