Bass compressor help pweez...
looking for a good 2 knob compressor for my lil bass board, what circuits do you guys recommend? I'm going to have it custom built in an enclosure to match the other pedal on my tiny lil bass board, and I'm looking for something that works well with passive electronics and isn't a huge squasher just a lil sqeezer to add some sustain and help with evening out the low notes and high notes in volume. Was thinking either the MXR or Orange Squeezer but wasn't sure on how well they work with bass. Recommendations? thoughts?

The Love Squeeze is pretty transparent. That's where my eyes are set.

The Orange Squeezer seems more like a compression effect to me, rather than a compressor. It is not transparent at all, at least not to my ear. Also, as a one knob build, it is a like-it-or-lose-it effect.
I built a clone of the Demeter Compulator for a friend of mine who plays bass in several bands (and one for me). He loves it. It is an optical compressor, and goes from being so subtle that you can't tell it's on, all the way to a medium squish. It is very well reviewed for bass.
It's a pretty easy build. 2 knobs, 3 if you wan the pre-gain control on the outside (recommended).

Thanks guys! I did some research on that ovnilabs website and from what I could find Mike's suggestion of a demeter clone looks to be the closest of what I'm looking for, well that or even the byoc opto comp with larger output caps. Hmmmmm.... this is excellent food for thought, thanks guys!
