its all great stuff. I have yet to read the Baroque Cycle tho. Strangely, to me William Gibson's MOST cyberpunk work is Pattern Recognition... which is set in the bleeding PRESENT!!! Takes a lot of talent to write sci fi without relying on the "Its the future" crutch.

I just bought To Your Scattered Bodies Go by Farmer, and needless to say it kicks ass. Also, I highly recommend checking out City Come A-Walkin (or The Exploded Heart) by John Shirley, it's like proto-cyberpunk with less influence on the cyber and more on teh punk. Shirley was some punk singer or somthing (and a large Zappa fan), and many of his stories involve some kind of musical theme.

If you guys havent read that stuff already. :bob:

Nice! I will totally have to check out that Shirley stuff. Another one I know that need to pick up is Roo'd by Josh Klein - it hits my sweet points of cyberpunk + body mod + general nuttiness... you can get it at the amazon createspace print-on-demand, or download it free directly from Josh's site - http://www.wireless.is/projects/rood/ ... I can't read books onscreen though... I stare at screens all day for a living, so it's nice to switch to paper after work is done.

I love cyberpunk.

I love the steampunk aesthetic, though I'm not as wild about most work produced within it. Aside from Girl Genius, of course.

Glad you like Rudy Rucker, Devi.

Anyone read any Richard Morgan? Man, that's the shizz. "Altered Carbon," "Woken Furies," "Market Forces" or "13..." Some of the best dystopian futures yet! And you like action? Jump right in, you will not be disappointed... :thumb:
