STORY TIME (to avoid scroll down to paragraph two): So let me start by saying I love my parents, we have a super great relationship and they are super supportive of my music aspirations, despite the huge amount of cash they shell out for my college education. My dad doesn't play music but like I dig classic cars because of him (we built my '69 Impala) he is into music gear because of me. We had been sending each other emails about vintage gear recently (He is now a big Jaguar fan) and it shifted to amps, since I was looking to get an old fender as most of you know due to my periodic threads. So I send him a link to a '68 Silverface Bassman. I have been drawn to these because I like silverface cosmetics especially the '68's with the drip rail, and also because '68's still had the AB165. Well this morning he sent me an email with the purchase info on the amp. I guess he convinced my mom to front it for me and I get to pay them back after my amp+some gear sells.
tl;dr I got a '68 Bassman head. It's missing the Fender logo on the grill cloth but those replacements are cheap, and it has a very small tare in the tolex but overall great condition for the price. I also have to switch out the power cable because it still has the 2 prong.

For sure, there is just something about the Michigan car culture (obviously Detroit) and growing up 30 miles from Detroit, it's just engrained. In the summer you can find car shows every night of the week. Where in Michigan were you?
Grew up in Brighton, went to college in Ann Arbor, then lived in Royal Oak for a buncha years. Still come back to Brighton / Detroit a few times a year. Michigan in the summer is my jam! How about you? Where you from?
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude. Dude. Dudedudedudedude. That is so f'n T O U G H . Daaaaaaaaaaamn. I would NOT paint that. At all. Looks so good like that. How's the interior???? You guys did a nice job on that one. LOVE those rims.... Again, daaaaayum. Damn.
PS - I once saw a mid-size Ford outside that liquor store on Cross near Oakwood in Ypsi with a "Powered By Deez Nutz" decal on the rear window. Cracks me up to this day!
Haha my house is off Cross craaazy. And the Interior is excellent, forgot to have my dad send a pic of the inside. We found another '69 that was in a bad wreck but had just had the seats reupholstered with proper era chevy upholstery so we put that in mine. It needs a new headliner as mine is ripped in the back, but the dash and everything is flawless.
The thing about the color is now it has faded to a point where it looks like someone took a scotch bright pad to it. It looks nice in those pics because we actually rubbed tire polish on it for a show we were going to It did what it was suppose to, then we gave it a good wash afterwards haha.
Gotcha. Still though, looks like your sheet metal is nice and straight which is awesome. You have a beautiful canvas to work with there. Thanks for the pics man!
Thanks man, I got super lucky, we found it at an estate sale. It was just primered in the barn, got it for $175. We opened the trunk and all the chrome and misc interior was in there. It was a whole lot of piecing together. Went through 2 other '69's, luckily we had the 454 already.
