GK is amazing. For plain tremolo it is unmatched in my opinion. Add to that the CV and expression pedal options and it really becomes unbeatable. That being said, it may be overkill if it's just a trem that you're after. I have a lot of other CV gear, so the GK can be used to do some really really wild stuff.
I have mine on my board for my synth / drone project right now, and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I have it clocked to a master clock (a Flame Clockworks) which is also clocking our drum machine, a MuRF and a Teaspoon which makes for some really nice sync'ed rhythmic stuff in our songs. I have the GK on my synth, the MuRF is on my buddy's synth, and the Teaspoon is on the drum machine and all of our modulation is in time with each other. Pretty nice. And then if I wanted to, I could take the LFO out of the GK and use it to sweep the parameters on the Moog Delay which is also in the mix. It's a beast, that Goat.
In my experience the GK is actually really easy to use, and yeah, the sequencing is definitely as interesting as it seems. It's kind of a must have in my book.
Kosta how do you live in NYC and have all this sweet gear and we're not friends?
I do want it basically for a trem (I don't have any other cv gear) but the concept of being able to build stuttery rhythmic patterns (with presets!) into songwriting with guitar seems incredible to me.

All anyone really "needs" is a fuzzbox anyway. Everything else is just dicking around.

Yep.

INDEED!

I use my GK3 pretty minimally when it comes to the CV stuff, just don't have much on my board. That said, I wouldn't drop the $$ just for trem sounds but they're incredible. It's the sequencing I focus on, uniquely awesome and very intuitive control set after you sit down with it for a bit. Worth every penny for the trem and sequence options alone imo.

Actually that's what I meant, not just the basic trem the sequenced trem patterns just seem so sick.
The reason I think I don't like most modulation is because just a standard LFO speed is too boring and straightforward, but this just seems to offer so many cool options when it comes to that.

It really does. You can get some great patterns with the time division knobs alone or create your own custom patterns using the depth/exp pedal. That's where shit get's truly crazy!

Fuck. I was worried you would say something like this.
I watched one demo of creating a custom waveform posted by Lightfoot and basically just thought "shit, that's something that completely change the way I approach things"
Now I guess I need one.

Thanks for the kudos on the set-up my dudes. Glad that the input on the GK is helpful, Huggz. I think you'll dig it if you get it. Nothing else out there quite like it. My synth / drone project (Omar Lords) is playing at Zebulon on 2/12 and Secret Project Robot on 2/25 if you wanna come say what's up.
