I'll looking at picking one up. Not only are they super cheap, but I've been really wanting a short scale bass, as well as a bass with a P/J pickup setup.
Does anyone here have one, or have experience with them? If so, what are your opinions?

I rehearsein a space of a musicshop.. And the guys had it in the shop, so I tried a few songs, played very nice, sounded pretty good, but I just don't like the active side of the bass..

My girlfriend is learning bass. We picked one up for her back in October.
Here is my much-too-long review of it here.
Bottom line, there are some cheap parts and shortcuts taken, but it's worth the money and playable out of the box.
If you have any questions, fire away.

Maybe I'm confused, but isn't the Squier Jag bass passive only?
I briefly played a shortscale Jag bass in a store a couple of months ago, didn't plug it in but it played pretty well I thought. I'm considering one of these myself, I prefer shortscale basses and I don't have much of a budget for getting one.

The all-new Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special puts classic Fender® looks into a distinctively sharp-looking, great-sounding and super-versatile Squier bass model.
Features include a sleek offset-waist body and an ultra-slim fast-action neck, with the added one-two punch of a booming split single-coil Precision Bass® middle pickup paired with a growling Jazz Bass® single-coil bridge pickup and an active bass-boost circuit that adds additional low-end power. Superior tone, smooth playability, great comfort and fantastic value.
Way too active for me personally

So it turns out we're both right, of the four different Squier Jag basses, two have active circuits and two don't.

The passives are pretty nice. I got one for my GF recently. plays strange but I'm used to normal Jazz bass scale. It's like playing a jazzmaster but... basssy
