univox unidrive clone

Post by tacklebox455 »

so i have a univox unidrive clone that has the silicon transistors and i wanted to make one with germanium transistors using 2N385 NPN CBS germanium transistors and i was curious to know if anyone thinks i would be able to just copy the clone circuit but use the germanium trans instead if this would work?

any help is good help I am open to ideas and any suggestions

You might have to tweak a few values to get the germs working "right." At the very least, add a bias control/trim to the transistors. Probably be a good idea to breadboard it first.

Yeah my plan was to bread board fi first and see how she sounds if this goes good I plan to build a germanium fuzz face as well

Hi,
I've been attempting to build a unidrive clone. I have modded it with true bypass switching, led indicator, drive pot (to replace switch) and a tone control. I have drawn circuit diagrams and breadborded it, but it sounds awful. I even ordered some Matsushita 2sc859 from Small Bear, yet still no joy. I started with the original cuircit diagram from univox and went from there.
It's my first build, and I'm learning as I go. Any chance you could share your diagrams, stripboard layout etc?
I am happy share what I have come up with.

If you share what you've come up with, one of us might be able to spot a mistake, if any, and go from there

Ok, here's a photo of the circuit diagram I came up with, along with a link to the original univox diagram.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
