Can you rehouse a Boss DM-2?
I have one and its old and looking rough. Can that pedal be rehoused? I would need to to be reversible if i ever decided to sell it.

yeah I don't see why you need to rehouse it. does it have broken knobs, loose jacks and faulty footswitch? anything with MN3xxx is a keeper. don't buy gold, buy pedals with real BBD chips. behold the MN3205

I hope they don't mind the deep linking from http://www.hobby-hour.com

Yea mine is the DM-2B
Marking of PCB: ET-5214-510B
BBD: MN3205
Clock Driver: MN3102
mines not too bad looking. I just think it needs a tuneup. The LED barely turns on and it just feels "weak" compared to any demo ive heard of it. Id be down to hunting down someone who could do a rehouse on it here in the near future.

You can swap 1 resistor to fix the led problem. There is one resitor for each opamp that controls the gain. Not sure i would mess with it though. Its just worth so much more money to leave it as is. You can rehouse to a DS1 box and redo the DM2 paint and screen print. You need to make screens and jigs. That is a serious project.

i might just see if i can send it to someone who can "tune" it. Ive read that over time they need that.

Re: Can you rehouse a Boss DM-2?
Did you flip the dip switch on your Pedal Power to compensate for the 12V versus 9V? Some old Boss pedals run with a different adapter (PSA or ACA, I always forget which one is which) and thus if you run the pedal at 9V, the LED looks weaker and the pedal sounds not as good. Let me know if you have questions about this...

That's exactly what I was thinking.the_necropolitan wrote:Did you flip the dip switch on your Pedal Power to compensate for the 12V versus 9V?
DM-2 runs on 12V not 9V. Try it with a battery and see if it's any different. Or flip the switch on the PP2+.

yea i flipped the switch on the PP2 and it did make a difference. The delay actually stands out more.
