New Boomerang stuff on their site.

Post by Adoom »

Looks like they're putting out the Sidecar and Wholly Roller to go along with the III Phrase Sampler.

I'll probably end up getting both, but the Wholly Roller is exactly what I liked so much about the old Boomerang. Word on the street is, it'll also work as an Experssion and Volume Pedal.

as long as this company is unable to implement MIDI in their loopers/phrase sampler i'm not interested.

^cool. What other loopers out there have midi? That can actually work and be assigned. Besides the timeline I can't think of any. Then again there has been alot of loopers launched recently.

The owner showed me this thing first hand and it's pretty rad! Don't know about the board space, but id snag one for cheap used and figure out that if I could. And I haven't seen the wholly roller, but I'm super psyched about that.

I understand wanting the ability for midi, but you can literally access/assign any function you could think of... It's hands down the best looper I've tried/heard. I can play HUGE fuzzy riffs with no fidelity loss, an then throw more on top of it and it just builds. With my m9, it would turn into an unaudited digital mess pretty quickly.

tight to MIDI clock? almost no one does that (ehx according to some user statements i found on the net, lexicon jamman). probably the new boss with the slicer functions does that (boss slicer is also able to sync to MIDI clock).
just think of the simple approach of syncing a loop to a drum machine. that is so 80ies technology. i really do not get why all of the manufacturer exclude that in their "new" loopers.

You were the one who asked about playing loops with drum machine some weeks ago. sth. about playing one-piece electro stuff i think. you will get the same problem i have.
(Here is your thread: viewtopic.php?f=149&t=19499&p=303198#p303030 )

P.S.: timeline looper does (according to the manual) not sync to MIDI clock. just MIDI programm changes are accepted.

I'm not really into MIDI m'self. I have no real interest in playing to something prerecorded, or synched up. Violin wise, I haven't ound anything better, and performance wise, it's perfect for me. That might be a different story when I pick up the Blofeld though.

I'm still after an Echoplex Digital Pro Plus, but that wouldn't be for violin.

I have Boomerang III. It sounds good, but stomp buttons are too close. It is bit tricky to avoid pushing two of them together with my boot. I think earlier model is more suitable (more robust) for live playing.

my experience w/ the EHX 2880 was that the midi sync was pretty tight....tight enough to sync to drum machines, etc. maybe not exact, but midi rarely ever is, and who wants that anyway? tiny drifts in the timing = human feel

plus the ability to have 4 independant tracks goin was pretty damn cool, instead of just overdubbing over the same loop pover and over

I'm excited about the Sidecar. Seems like it would take up a lot of room though, but it would definitely be worth it if you want to fully expand the Boomerang III. The great thing about the pedal is that it has so many functions packed into a small package (compared to Boss's RC-50), so if I wanted to scale it back for a gig, I probably good. I may just wait around and see if a used one pops up.
