favorite arpeggio?

Post by multi_s »

Im making an arpeggiator (real word?) and i was wondering, since there are really a limitless number of sequences/note patterns, if there are any in particular that people feel something like this really should have. So far i have pretty typical octave/fifth/major/minor type things with various inversions as well as A few chromatic runs and some patterns using whole tone scales for that fairy godmother entering the Cinderella scene type deal.

any suggestions?

if i had an arpeggiator i'd have to try my favorite thing to do on piano, which is to take a C major 7th chord, voice it through three or four octaves from the low end up with perhaps a few passing tones added, 9ths and 6ths, and run it into a huge reverb/delay patch so it all hangs in the air in a huge cloud of sound. i'd also voice some of the weirder chords from my own songs so i could step on the box and then play a fill against the arpeggiated chord.

I was going to say whole tone scales, but you included that already! This sounds pretty awesome, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished thing.

Oh, i got one, diminished 7th arpeggio would be really cool probably. As in a dim7 chord, not some stupid term for a major 6th, going to and from one note would be the worst arpeggiator ever.

This, most definitely this.

And please oh please let it track on bass.

Well i have the patterns organized into sets based on length at the moment. So there is one set that is length 2 which is just bouncing between 2 notes. But ya, i will definitely add some diminished 7th.

I tried to design it so. It tracks down to 30 Hz at the moment. To put that in perspective, the lowest note on a standard tuned 4 string bass is ~42 Hz and 5 string ~31 Hz (low B). I will definitely make some clips on bass and then you can judge the tracking quality for yourself. I should have some form of demo by next week.

Definitely a whole tone arpeggio, as said before.

Some two- or three-note arpeggios, so that it's not always just tonnes of notes.
