fulltone 69 fuzz question

Post by Vidarr »

I have a 69 fuzz and just found a pedal power 2 adapter that I'm 99% sure is positive tip. What's the worst that can happen if I plug it in and it's negative tip? Just won't come on? It won't ruin it, no?

Yes, you can ruin it because the power adapter would burn the pedal.

Anyone know how to test a power adapter for polarity?

You could buy another 69 and try sticking it in that one?

Use the continuity function on a multimeter. If the cable goes tip to tip and sleeve to sleeve, it's a normal polarity cable. If it goes tip-sleeve and sleeve-tip, then it's reverse polarity. Or you could plug in the cable to the power supply and check the actual voltage difference between tip and sleeve, and compare the reading with a cable of known polarity to be extra sure you have the leads the way you think you do.
