AB synth problem....
Hello fellow fuzz lovers.
I bought one of those much loved AB Synth boxes, however I can' t get it to work...
The lights indicate that the switches are working, but all I get is the clean signal form my amp. Moreover when I turn off the oscillating channel it just lowers the volume. The only knob that changes the sound is the trip control, and it only affects the volume. I opened the box to check inside and everything seems tidy; there are no obvious signs of solder failure or anything like that. I was sooo looking forward to noodling around with my new pedal, but all I got was a useless box of disappointment.
Anyone else have a similar experience? Am I a total tool for not getting this thing to work?
P.S I made sure I didn' t mix up the output and inputs. In addition to using the recommended 9v source, I tried a 12v too....

Sorry about the trouble, dude! The AB-Synth is sweeeeeet, so I understand your anticipation/disappointment.
The GREAT thing about Fuzzhugger(FX) is that you can speak directly to Tom and he will be SO EXCELLENT at helping you solve the problem. Send him a PM (he's the ILF head moderator) or e-mail him at Fuzzhugger.com. I've sent him questions about every Fuzzhugger pedal I've played/owned (Algal Bloom, AB-Synth, Upper, Arc Flash, Great Wall, Huger) and he's done everything he could to make it right every time.

Re: AB synth problem....
Okay, I just emailed you to see if you mixed up the outs and ins, since that's how it'd behave if that was the case... But I see that's not the case!
I've never had an AB-Synth behave this way...if you're getting a clean signal when it's on, we might be looking at a random switch failure (that's passing the signal straight through, rather than through the circuit). Anyway, I've emailed and will take care of it however you'd like--refund, repair, etc, and I'll pay shipping.

That's sad, the absynth is amazing. Tom will take care of you though, no worries.

Tom is a class act.
I contact him with my problem. He replied within 24hrs. He made a few inquiries. It is clear the pedal is non-functional, probably due to a faulty switch. He assured me that the switches are top quality (same supplier as ehx) and that this is a rare circumstance. He is going to set me up with another unit. Fantastic....
I was pretty bummed for awhile....but now things are looking up, I might even receive a functional fuzz before my next jam session...
Now the only question remains is which design will be on the enclosure...? I guess it will be a surprise...either way I can' t wait to hear it.
Big shout out to Tom and his crew over at Fuzzhugger Fx!

Re: AB synth problem....
Well I finally got a working pedal.
I tried it out with my jagmaster, and it was sublime. I fiddled around with it for an hour and got dozens of different tones. I then plugged in my lap steel and It worked really well with the slide. I have p-90s in my lap guitar so the oscillation mode was a little hard to control, probably because of the noises typical of p-90 with high gain settings... totally wild. Blip blip whahh blip.burrrrp....! I played for as long as I could....and I think there are still settings to explore....very excited about the possibilities of this little box of sounds.
As far as customer service goes, I am pleased to report that although I had to wait a long time to actually play with a functional unit, Tom and his fuzzhugging buddies treated me with respect and rectified the problem as quickly as they could....(I didn't actually get a replacement in the end, they received my unit and sent it back repaired immediately). I was a good experience and I will get another pedal from them in the future (they did give me a small discount on my next purchase after all...). Maybe a Phantom Arcade.
