Fuzz not bonding well w/ band sound.... OD?

So I play in a "avant-rock" kind of band, instrumental while trying to avoid GSYBE/Mogwai cliches, and we usually play LOUD - our drummer is insane, you see. Anyway, the guys in my band were complaining (or were they??) when I was playing w/ fuzz pedals I literally disappeared into the mix, when I'm playing without I can hear myself and when when a fuzz comes into the mix it's just gone...... I'm playing a SG into a dyna comp clone into a Op Amp Muff and a homemade Fuzz face clone, then going into modulation into a JCM 900 100w half stack. My compressor is always on, and is before the fuzz. Plus I can usually hear my bass player who uses a smaller amp and our other dude who plays whatever he brings with him into the PA - so the drummer and I are usually packing the most power behind us......

Anyway, I usually have the EQ on the amp pretty much at noon except the mids and treble backed off a little bit, the guitar volume pretty low and when we're not playing as a group and I use a fuzz it sounds way louder than without..... just wondering if there are any that I'm not picking up on.......

I also occasionally use an old MXR Distortion+ and that seems to have a lot more clarity and I'm thinking maybe OD is more my speed......

I used to get lost in the mix all the time, especially with muff types - Mayo, Zero, Blackout Dual, etc. Tonebender Mk1.5 would get lost as well. In all cases, kicking in a boost or EQ after the fuzz helped a LOT.

If I didn't want to add an extra pedal, I'd use a Buzzaround instead of a muff - similar boom (sort of), did not disappear.

This is my solution too. I use a Cleanness (boost/3 band eq) or some sort of OD (Monarch or Fuck) after most fuzz to boost/eq the shit out of it if things start getting lost. I find it gives me way more control and available volume than running it pre-fuzz/dirt.

I'm gonna have to jump on the bandwagon and suggest an EQ or perhaps an boost/od post-muff to rectify the situation.

If you dig on the muffs, maybe try the Blackout Effectors Musket? Seems like the mids & focus control could really do wonders for cutting through the proverbial mix.

IC Muff is now famously the Siamese Dream fuzz sound and as famously didn't work on stage because of scooped mids.

Definitely want to build a Buzzaround the more I hear about it.

its surprising how much more "cut" you get with more mids (and im an oldskool Metalhead that likes scooped mids )

Mids are your friend. I use my Monarch OD mainly as a boost pedal for my Bluebeard.

I recommend if your looking at fuzzy distortion, to look at the Pro Co Rat's.
