Just got done playing with mine and saw this thread. It's really cool, but I SUCK at timing the loops.

I found that my limited experience DJing and doing live editing with cassette tapes helped a lot with looping. there's a certain inherent latency in the --hit switch->edit happens-- sequence of your machine that you have to learn to adjust for.

Yea, this is only my third time using a looper. I was getting really frustrated earlier and ended up playing a diff song that was eaier to time.

I'm going to need a bypass loop for this as well.

I've found that hitting the switch really fast helps with timing. I mean obviously you don't want to totally smash the switch but I've found that if I just hover my foot over the switch and think about it too much I usually mess up.

I dunno really it just takes some getting used too. It really helps to play along with a metronome or drum machine for a while.

Why bypass loop?

Cause I can't turn it off. I could always just change to the clean/volume setting, but that's just one more tweak to do mid playing.

It's not all bad though, it will encourage me to make the order switchable 2 loop/bypass I've been putting off.

Yea, to stop your loops. In order to play clean like the VDL doesn't exist aka "bypass", you have to change pedal functions in the pre effects to "clean/volume." I don't want to change settings all the time. Suppose I could just save a program and have the pre-effect clean, would be easier to get through cause then I could use the stomp buttons to get to it instead of twisting knobs.

You have to make sure to turn Juggernaut mode off, otherwise the loops are unstoppable

I'm definitely interested in the Vox looper. I've been waiting for the Looperlative LP2 http://looperlative.com/products.php?cat=7&pg=2 but the dude seems to be having a hard time getting them out. I've owned a DL4, RC20XL and now the M9. I honestly have never had a problem timing loops with pedal loopers. Bukowski's right that you can't think too much about it. I've never used laptop loopers or anything (kaoss pad has that latency issue that dubkitty's talking about) but the pedal loopers are as easy to use as it is to tap your feet to the rhythm. And I would be satisfied forever with the M9 if there was a way to retrigger/continuous play (rather than play once, which is also necessary). That makes it much easier to play with a drummer. I don't want to be in a band where the drummer sits there listening to clicks through headphones.
