Young Widows

So I saw Young Widows tonight... fuckin' amazing show despite the complete tool of a sound guy. They played a really small club and I caught a really good look at their gear and was able to get right up to it after their set.

Currently, Nick's running either his trusty Gibson RD Artist or First Act custom through:
- Boss TU-2
- Boss GE-7
- Boss NS-2
- Digitech Digiverb
- Line 6 Echo Park
and newest of all,
- Fuzzrocious Rat Tail (version 3, the white one)

Into the typical 2 Ampeg SVT-200Ts.

I snapped some photos, but they turned out really blurry. Evan's board was exactly the same as he described in the Fret 12 video, but now he's using the Verellen Meatsmoke and a smaller Verellen head. Not many changes, but the sound coming off the stage was absolutely PHENOMENAL. It was the PA that totally raped the vocals, though. They were running a bit too quiet and too hot.

I'm sure some of you know all of this, but fuck you, it was my first time seeing Young Widows.

Also, everyone should check out Via Vengeance. He was one of the opening acts, and it's a one man sludge band. He fuckin' rocked shit so hard... Sunn Concert Bass w/ Orange and Hiwatt cabs, 7-string Schecter, and a cool kit.

Fuck, I'm jealous! Didn't get a chance to see them on this recent tour. Agreed, their live sound is phenomenal (barring shitty sound guys) Saw 'em open for Mouth Of The Architect years ago and I was floored at the sheer power of their set, astounding it's only 3 guys up there bringing that thunder. I've been a devoted fan ever since.

i saw em in portland last wednesday, there set was pretty badass. it was a small club with maybe 50 people so i had no trouble gettin to the very front. My disco played before them and were incredible as well. the best show i've seen in a while.
