Modding The Internet
My Dwarfcraft Internet is absolutely amazing. I've been through so many dirt pedals in the quest for tone it's a joke, and I've finally found one that has the core two tones in it that I need - almost glitchy and rumbling low gain, and searing fuzz-like high gain. I have a few qualms with it, though, and I was wondering whether anyone else has had similar experiences or feels the same way.
When you kick on the boost with the volume and gain at a certain setting, do you find the highs and volume increase frustrating? The only way I can keep the boost section usable is by changing to a PAF seven string and moving to the neck or middle position. I was wondering whether it were possible to add a tone knob/switch that controls the output of the boost and the high content of it, too, so that I can tame it to better fit the setting.
Right now I feel like I need two Internet's to get what I want. I'd love for the pedal to offer low gain with the volume at 11 o'clock and gain at 1 o'clock, and high gain distortion/fuzz with the boost engaged for on-the-fly tone changing, or high gain distortion/fuzz with both the gain and volume maxed (without boost).
In other words, when I engage the boost, I have to tweak the knobs so that it stays usable in my already very loud and aggressive set-up, and that seems to take away from the whole point of a footswitch-able boost, no? Is there anything we can do about this? Has anyone had their Dwarfcraft pedals modded before?

Re: Modding The Internet
It sounds more like you want to use one without the other. I don't know how you add gain to gain (or boost to gain) without volume. And it's often hard to add volume with out a bit more highs, in my experience.
Let be known: I have well over-stretched my knowledge in the post.

It would be possible to put another volume knob on the second booster stage, the one that is engaged/bypassed by the "Pron" switch. Obviously this will effect the saturation of the third and final booster in the circuit. And that last stage is limited by the Bandwitch (Volume) knob.

I would be interested in this. Could one send an internet to dwarfcraft hq for such modding?

For sure, I'd have to ask for $30 plus shipping though.

Godamnit, I forgot to click subscribe so I haven't read the replies until now.
I don't mind paying to have the pedal modified at all. It was $150 to start with, and to have the perfect overdrive pedal even at $300 would be absolutely fine with me.
Aen, so if you add a volume knob for the boost section, it also will affect the final gain stage that kicks in when you increase the volume?

Re: Modding The Internet
I'm sure it could be done with a simple voltage divider circuit, actually. It depends on the circuit, and I'm sure Aen knows the circuit better than I do (I've never used, seen, or heard an Internet in person, and I know nothing about the schematic), but if chance were to have it, it's possible a potentiometer would be able to control the gain stage. But based on the fact that it's a gain stage, you'd probably have to sacrifice gain to get the volumes you want.

This might be a better idea (or it might be a horrible one ), could we set it up so that there are two channels available on The Internet?

I hope these requests aren't annoying, mate? I never usually ask for anything other than what I'm given, but I feel pretty damn compelled right now.

Re: Modding The Internet
Well, here's the problem, the volume and gain controls here are all the same.
Pron Off: stage 1 BIG AMPLIFICATION> Volume knob >Stage 3 BIG AMPLIFICATION > Volume knob
Pron ON: Stage 1 Big Amplification>Volume knob>Stage 2 BIG AMPLIFICATION>Stage 3BIG AMPLIFICATION >Volume knob.
The gain knob on the internet just controls the output volume of stage one, effecting the saturation of the next stage or two. The middle stage is what gets switched in and out.
Pron Off: stage 1 BIG AMPLIFICATION> Volume knob >Stage 3 BIG AMPLIFICATION > Volume knob
Pron ON: Stage 1 Big Amplification>Volume knob>Stage 2 BIG AMPLIFICATION>Stage 3BIG AMPLIFICATION >Volume knob.

Re: Modding The Internet
I know it's almost a year old but I'm now happening across this post. I just purchased The Internet pedal and was also interested if a mod was possible to roll off some high end or volume from the Pron section.
question for Aen - did you/have you done this mod for anyone or did you ultimately decide it would take away too much of the signal going to stage 3 to still sound good? If it does work - are you still willing to do? I love the sound of the pedal in all it's stages - just the disparity in volume between the Pron off/on is a little hard to manage
Thanks in advance for your reply!!!
