Proco Rat or Box of Rock?

I know it's not really fuzz, but My ears suck discerning effects. I was all set on getting a Jtm 45 style pedal for my base tones, but someone told me these songs sound more like a rat and i love his tones. I know Marsden has both on his pedal board. Can you help?

I think it sounds like a rat. Plus its a whole lot cheaper. And theres one in the b/s/t. And its modded for more tone options. You should go buy it.

I could never get my rat to sound that good, maybe i just suck lol. Which rat would it be? It just sounds a little smoother than a rat that's why i asked.... thanks guys

Last one plays, and if that's a RAT, I know what I'd do. I'd clear the room, secure the device in a blast-proof box, take it home and indoctrinate it by means of a mixture of tantric techniques and old-fashioned drug-assisted mesmerism. Then, when it was afraid to leave the room without me to protect it from its own shadow, I'd continue gaslighting it for another year until it spilled its crystal lattice secret. Copious amounts of duct taped would be utilized, but I'd stop short of waterboarding, for reasons that should be obvious.

Seriously, it does not sound like any straight-up Rat I've ever heard--way too brick-walled and velcroey--in a most excellent manner. I like it. What else is on Marden's board? I've only found Marsden referring to Jazzmasters, Danelectros and Big Muffs, but it's obvious from Youtube live shots he's got a lot more than a Muff on there. Sounds to me like some savant in the studio had a lil magickal box.... I dunno, maybe if you hit the Rat with a super-hot signal it'd get there. I'll have to try that. To be honest, I haven't really given my Rat much love or thought since...the ugliness surrounding my exit from Leather Champagne Glass. Good luck. I've gotta go press my tightest pants to be ready for midnight.

ya i figured out it was a muff for the song in the other thread, but his underneath tones are tough to figure out. Ive gone to guitar center and tried with limited time to use combinations of those pedals to get his tones... im either really bad at using those pedals or its something completely different. I just can't do it that's why im looking for help.
