Settings are going to sound different with different rigs.
Go twiddle all the knobs you can (pedal, amp, guitar) and have fun finding settings you like :thumb:

My first suggestion, after having just gotten a Rat2 myself this week, is to change the op amp. You can go with LM301, which is way cheaper than a 308 and also sounds the same (to my ears).

Did you get both already?

I like having my gain at around 10:00 and filter around 11:00, and when you stack them like that, it gets awesomer.

I've got a 20-ish year old big box reissue, and there aren't particularly "wrong" settings for the knobs on that, although I hear others are more finicky. Twiddle away. And don't be afraid to completely rethink the Filter knob setting at different gain ranges.

I'll use this also as a future reference to my favorite overdrive setting on my Rat2 (since I'm going to be sending mine off to theavondon tomorrow).

When I had a Rat2, I liked the gain low-ish (9-10:00), the filter around noon/one and volume set just a tad above unity.

That being said, I wasn't particularly happy with the Rat, so I designed the Propaganda Overload. :idk:
