and it rocks my socks! seriously awesome... i went with a blem and asked bri to sexy it up and he sure did! that gold sparkle matches my 4545 but anyway...
speed 1 oclock, depth 11, pw about 4 with the chop stick to the right!
blood-spattered boners! haven't spent much time figuring out the blarggotron yet but just about every setting on that thing is absolutely insane! especially when you have a TAFM after it and a fuck overdrive in front
oh and by the way THE FUCK OVERDRIVE IS FUCKING AMAZING dare i say it's my favorite overdrive ever?
Got mine. It's so fucking dense in normal mode, then you kick in the Blargg and it sounds like the world's ending or your ears are dying.
Question about the Pulse Width knob. On mine, it seems like 3/4 of the dial, from full CCW to 3 o'clock, there's very little difference. Is that the case foranyone else? Edit: Just looked at the manual on the ss/bs site and saw it's normal.
Also, this thing is tiny. I was expecting something like large EHX size, it's more like DOD.
Just got out of work to find my blargg waiting for me at home!
I've only had a few minutes with it, but thus far I'm super impressed, as I figured I would be. First off, I looooooove the fuzz sound in normal mode. Like dmcmahon said, it's a super dense, wall of fuzz type of sound. I also noticed the sustain on this motherfucker is pretty damn ridiculously long in normal mode, like...silly long. Then comes ye olde footswitchable madness of the blargg. The only way I can describe it just...sick, and awesome, and yeah...SICK. My favorite setting so far for the modulation is:
Speed - 10 o' clock Depth - 12 o' clock Pulse Width - 3 o' clock
Also, the red and gold splatter finish on top of the crackling wonkiness looks fucking awesome. Thanks Brian!
Spent some time yesterday experimenting with stacking. It seems like none of my other dirt likes the Blargg before it. I tried it with a Musket and an Ab-Synth and a couple of others - all the same result. It seems to super-compress the input and sounds like the volume's lower. It totally takes over the sound, too. Putting it after, though, is fun. Whatever I run before it colors the texture in interesting ways.
hmmm interesting. i just tried out blargg > fuck overdrive > little big muff and both the fuck and the muff are cool with the blargg's output. there's no denying that it takes over the muff, but if you turn on the blargg, then turn on the muff, then turn off the muff - you can hear that the sound of it super compressing is actually more-or-less what the blargg sounds like on it's own, just more fuzzed out.
my settings are: blargg - no modulation, pulse width (fully CCW), volume (1 o'clock) fuck - threshold (fully CCW), gain (2 o'clock), hi-cut (fully CW), volume (11 o'clock) little big muff - sustain (12 o'clock), tone (3 o'clock), volume (3 o'clock)
narrower pulse (more buzzy/hollow/thin) settings on the blargg definitely change when pushed through a fuzz, but the bigger settings do seem to open up more and still have a volume boost, etc. when placed before a fuzz. obviously so much has to do with the individual settings, pedals, guitar, amp, etc. i'm curious as to what you're using?
I think I was running it thus: no modulation, pulse width at 2-3 o'clock, volume wherever it needed to be for unity, probably around 2 o'clock. Playing a Jaguar into a Blackheart Handsome Devil and a Peavey Mace, both tube amps. I'll have to do more testing. My experimental method was in no way comprehensive.
