Hey, I live out in the middle of nowhere and I don't have anything to build my circuit on at all.
Sooooo what kinds of things would do good as make shift boards?

The very first Mosrite Fuzzrites were built on a Tough Paper phenolic type material, just punch holes in something simmilar (aslong as it's something that wont set fire)
Or... a Bit of wood with Nails in it to immitate Tag Board.
Or you could wire it point to point, just soldering each lead to its counterpart... but that can get messy.
Those would be my sugestions untill you can come up with something better.

What about an old gift card?!

or will that melt? I mean how hot do these things get usually?
Edit: oh yeah, soldering... how the hell would I do that? D:'

okay can you tell me how I would go about doing this then?
Seems like some risky business.

Plasticy Cardboard (Like Thick Photo Paper* Sets fire a bit less easy... more... melts.
It'll probably just scorch rather than set fire but I don't fancy getting sued
Do it point to point if you have nothing else to do it on, although surely you can muster some wood and nails? Or A bit of Tree Branch and Some Bits of Metal?

I hope you're not asking for soldering substitues

if you are... before solder I think i'm right in saying they used Epoxy to hold the components together.
Twist and tie with a pair of plyers would do as a very temporary substitute though.
All this seems to be skipping around the end product though, is this just to test something or do you intend to box it up... you should really consider long term if so.

Actually yes...but seriously 2,000 people live here.
Our Radioshack only sells remote control cars from the 1990's and cell phones. (it's more of a US Cellular dealership)
UNLESS they have some secret back room of wonder and amazement...
If they ordered that kind of stuff it would be because they have to.

It's more of a wall of drawers and overpriced disappointment.
How big of a perf do you need? Layout? I can cut some of mine up and mail it to you.

That's part of the charm. Throw one of those it in a plexiglass enclosure with some extra leds to make the smoke all pretty.
