Problem with Hummingbird

Post by Officer Bukowski »

Hey guys I just got a Hummingbird off the b/s/t here and there's a little problem with it. The depth knob feels like it's grinding when I turn it. It works perfectly but it's hard to turn and it just feels pretty fucked up. Once it gets to about 3 o'clock it's really hard to turn and it just feels really bad. Like I said it works fine and it sounds great but it still kinda bothers me. I think it was made on 9/1/2010 so it's not like it's old and abused or anything. Also I'm not trying to badmouth EQD or anything I looked inside and it's probably the neatest work I've ever seen.

Does anybody else have this problem? Should I just leave it how it is since it works fine?

By the way this was my first EQD pedal and other than that pot I love it. It sounds awesome! I also have a Hoof in the mail.

Try sparying a little Deoxit in the pot, and work it a little. Could jsut be some gunk in there.

Ok. This is probably a really stupid question but where do I spray it in from?

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. loosen the knob, lift it up just a little bit and tighten it down. Occasionally a knob will go down too far and stop the shaft from spinning freely.

Thanks! Now that I look closely at it, it looks like that is the problem. I just need to find a little screwdriver to loosen it.

Also... I just got my Dreamsicle Hoof today and it rocks. I'm a big fan of the Black Keys and the Hoof is awesome for that sound. I'm still trying to figure out settings but it sounds cool pretty much no matter what.

Now I want a Dirt Transmitter...

I took the knob off and found the source of the problem. There's a little piece of metal sticking off the side of the washer for the switch. The knob is scraping on it as it turns.
