Tone Reaper with power supply

Post by pointblank »

Hey folks. I just picked up a used Tone Bender and the first thing I did was plug it into my Pedal Power. What came out of the speaker was extremely sputtery, gated fuzz. The notes would decay really quickly. I went to YouTube and listened to some of the demos and realized my pedal sounded *nothing* like the demos, so on a whim I popped in a 9V battery. WOW... what a difference. I am absolutely in love with the tone that comes out of the Tone Reaper when I've got a battery in there.

So.... is it normal for there to be such a difference in sound between battery and power supply? Is this something that could be fixed if I wanted to run the pedal with the Pedal Power, or is that "just the way it is"?

No, we test all our pedals with an ISO 5 so it should be fine. Are you sure it wasn't on a higher/lower voltage setting or using the reverse polarity cable?

I just tried my big box Tone Reaper, and the new pink one that came today- both with a battery, and a power supply. Each time, they sounded exactly the same. :?:

Hey guys,

I'm running an original Pedal Power, so there's no sag feature. I did play with it a bit more, pulling the power leads from my other pedals, and the problem still remains. I'll keep messing with it. Thanks guys.
