Sea Machine: Your experiences

Post by dorfmeister »

I am looking for something to dial in everything from 80's new wave and post/punk chorus to freaky shit like the Wow and Flutter and Pitch Pirate can do. Will the Machine get me into the right territory and even give me some possibilities not contained within the previously mentioned?

I lovelovelove my sea machine. Seriously.
Perhaps it's due to having a cosmichorus on my board at the same time, but I leave the cosmi for the 80's/post-punk/hardcore stuff and the sea machine to really go off the deep end or do some ambient/soundscape type stuff.

I feel like the sea machine is less focused on traditional chorus tones, and more about creating unique textures.
The dimension/animate knobs will give you sounds never before heard on a chorus, but if you want the traditional sounds you really just have to turn most of the knobs off
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

i agree with GR, i love this box. it's like the chorus on the polychorus but pushed further. for a moment a wanted to sell it cause i really wanted the reverb/slapback qualities of the ghost echo. but, after getting to know all of the controls and how they effect each other i've found truly bitchin slapback, eerie reverb, pitch bending madness, delay/modulated oscillation, crazy vibrato, raygun, traditional vibrato and chorus, and a million sounds in between. to my ears this is the most versitile chorus box out there. the dimension and animate knobs really make this bad motherfucker. never thinking of parting with this again.

Thanks HS

This seems like such an interesting pedal but I was kind of worried because there was almost no buzz on it.

I suppose, though, if I need some John McGeoch style flanging I will probably still need a flanger, too.

Just got my Sea Machine. Played through it a bit. I like it but will need to put it through its paces.

I am running it on 9v from my T-Rex Fuel Tank. I would like to run 12v but can't. I can run from two 9v supplies from the Fuel Tank. Can the Sea Machine handle 18v?

Got mine yesterday and I'm blown away. I couldn't play it much or loud cause my daughter had already gone to sleep, but it is awesome. Started out with the normal chorus setting as suggested: just what I want from a chorus. Then I tweaked a little, hooked my TAFM in front and y Delay after the Chorus: scoot over, Kevin Shields. Awesome shoegaze-ey sound. And I haven't even scratched the surface yet. Best new pedal this year.

has anyone found a way to get the "vibrato" sound you can get in some chorus pedals? its one of my favorite things to do with chorus pedals... admittedly i havent tried very hard with the sea machine but i figured i'd ask anyways
my chi is directly proportionate to my good times and rad adventures

Zumba DVD. Fuck, yeah, that is the perfect chorus, but pretty unobtainable, while the Sea Machine is more key.
