SO, I got a new bass yesterday. A 1975 Gibson Grabber!



It's pretty rad. BUT, my friend brought up an interesting point last night. He said to me,

"Every instrument you own is like 30 years old, but every pedal on your pedalboard is brand new."

I thought about it, and he's right. And, I'm not sure if I care. Is anyone else in the same situation as I am?

i'm definetely in a similar situation. i mostly play old harmonys and silvertones along with a few old trusty fenders. most of my amps are ancient too.... but not a single vintage pedal on my board.

Ummm not really is my answer.. my grear is all over the place... My main bass is about 17 years old but falls into the modern type, but my board was very new pedal designs and I have a 70's MXR phaser on there

The oldest piece of gear I have is my early 70's Univox Bass amp, but that's more of a semi-retired amp. My main gigging equipment is probably all within 2 years old. I need reliability and good tone, and really don't care how old it is.

A majority of my board is newer with the exception of CS-9, Russian Small Stone, Not too sure how old the TW1 is right off hand...
The fuzzface in the beard box is almost completely NOS or mojo I've scavenged.

Guitars...I'd love to have a few older guitars but I lack the cash and the ability to save it up.
Instead I just build/restore...and pretend they are older than they really are.

That grabber is very nice btw.

Mine is a mix of 30-40 year old gear (ok 2 past 60 years old) and brand new stuff.

It’s all about sound (tone?) and feel.
