I just got a "brand new" Hoof from an ebay dealer yesterday. There was some surface scratches on top of the pedal. So, I'm guessing it was either used, or a factory 2nd?
Anyhow, after getting home I immediately put a battery in and fired it up...the LED wasn't working so I looked at the connection and it was broken. Fortunately enough it was an easy fix so all was right again. The only question that keeps on going through my head is, "Should I either demand a partial refund (for the broken LED connection), or just keep the thing as is?"
We don't discriminate on minor surface scratches in our screen printing so if it wasn't a gouge it could have been shipped like that. However, we don't send out pedals with unsoldered connections either. We can fix it for you if you want to send it in. Who did you get it from? I'd rather you deal with us than the dealer.
who'd you get it from a more lax dealer would just say sure thing, offer you the refund a less lax dealer would ask you send the pedal back for a full refund or exchange, maybe refund shipping costs, since there is no way to really 'prove' that the pedal arrived dysfunctional, especially since you fixed it
also, those in-house, decal clear coat finishes seem to be more fragile than others (like powercoating), so surface scratches are normal for example, skreddy pedals, my ernie came with a teeny chip on the bottom plate and I got it direct from marc

The last 450 hoofs have been powder coated and screen printed, but you are right. Most spray paint is more prone to chipping and scratching, even just from sitting in the box. I still kinda like the look of decals over screen printing, the graphics are more crisp around the edges.
Crazy! That's not the kind of scratches we ignore! You can send it back to us and I'll replace it with a better looking one. Prymaxe is an authorized dealer but something tells me that was a floor model or return.

Ah, had no idea!
And yeah, agreed on floor model or return.
for jamie
I should check out Prymaxe one day, they're like a 10 minute drive away...
Got an email from Cory at prymaxe, this has gone somewhere I didn't want it to. I really wanna replace this for you, I'm taking it as our fault and not theirs. Prymaxe is a good reputable seller.

Haha! But seriously, I'm gonna make a super cheap (well relatively speaking) scratch and dent store on here sometime in the next 2 weeks. Almost every pedal will be available in multiples.
