Question regarding my original disaster transport
Hey, all. I have an original version of the DT that I bought on eBay (I think it may have been just a few months before the new ones were introduced). While I love the way it sounds, I noticed that it generates a bit more hiss than my other delay units. The noise level doesn't seem to be affected by any adjustments to the 'mix' or 'time' controls, either.
Since I don't have another DT on hand that I could a/b with, I was hoping someone here could tell me if this was a normal feature on this version. Is it due to the lack of the 'tone' knob featured on version 2? Is there anything I can do to fix it (cleaning the pots, inputs, etc.)?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Question regarding my original disaster transport
I have one of the originals, too. I don't so much get a hiss, but I do get a notable volume decrease when it's on... I just leave it on a lot.

Re: Question regarding my original disaster transport
You shouldn't get too much hiss with a disaster transport og, you also shouldn't get a noticeable volume drop either. I've noticed that both the original and current DT's are a little bit picky about the amps they run into. My deluxe reverb has a bit more hiss than it should (there is some built in noise I chose not to remove, makes it sound more authentic IMO) but it's nearly dead quiet through my marshall JTM-45 and Music Man 120 near full volume. If you want, I can take a look at it. Just email me and I'll give you instructions to send it back. Also, just for history sake, there was a 2 year gap when no DT's were made. The new version is a completely different circuit.

Re: Question regarding my original disaster transport
I found mine last year from an eBay vendor after searching for some time for one. I love it, but I'm honestly jealous of the new DT.
The volume drop is really a non-issue for me in the way I use the pedal. Most time I'm plugged into a Swart Super Space Tone 30 or a Supro/Zinky amp. Much more noticeable on the Swart than the Zinky, but I find that amp to be somewhat finicky, anyhow.

Re: Question regarding my original disaster transport
Thanks for such a quick response, Jamie. That's interesting about the amps. I'm currently running mine through a fender pro jr. (with a 2x12 cab) that I use for practice. I can't say I've noticed any sort of volume drop, though. Would it be more convenient to contact you through the EQD website, or via private message on here? Thanks again.
Also, I'd be lying if I said I was wasn't a bit jealous of the new DT's as well, since it would probably take up less space on my pedalboard.

I have an OG DT and I love it, although I don't use the modulation that much, I just like the straight up delay ....

but still... i've been looking at this pedal for over a year and i finally got it
i'm quite happy

(but really... PLEASE do it

Re: Question regarding my original disaster transport
Well the shipping would cost probably over 20$ and it could take up to three weeks to just get to you... the same backwards
if it's just a quick fix, i would really appreciate a chance to do it myself so i wouldn't have to spent over a month without my new love
the shipping fee isn't a problem

No idea, unless the buffer in the EHX pedal is making the bypassed signal drop. If you post a photo of the guts in your DT, I can show you the resistors that need to be swapped for a volume increase. If i remember correctly it's either just one or 3 resistors depending on what version of the PCB you have.

The flash is right over the area where the resistors are, can you take another without flash?
