Fender Blacktop Series. NEW PICS - Page 4.

Post by Noise... »

How this isn't already posted, I have no idea.

A few Fender Dealers have leaked these in the past week or two. An all new Fender series of guitars with a $450 street price, "modern" stylings (AKA, lots of black, lack of switches, and Humbuckers). Strats and Teles of course, but notably Jazzmasters and Jaguars as well.

They're MIM, and are supposed to start shipping September 1st.

Elderly Music and Worldwide Music Supply are taking preorders on them now.

Dealer shots - Please note, the stock photos look shitty. They aren't fake - just sloppy stock photos. :thumb:

I'm ordering a Jazzy now, and a Jaguar soon after. Sunburst for the Jazzy, Silver for the Jag.

I think they're all pretty awesome - and I'm not huge on humbuckers. :idk:

It will be interesting to see how the Jazzmasters are routed. I'm really hoping for normal Classic Player routing so that I just need a pickguard to throw a bridge Jazzmaster pickup in.

The Jag I'll keep HH for some variety. I'll definitely throw a Bigsby B5 on with a Vibramate though. IMO, this is what the Jagmaster SHOULD have been. Hard tail, threeway switch, humbuckers.

It would be cool to have dual P94's in it too.

Same. I'll keep them stock for a while first though. For the Jazzmaster, I'm thinking a Jazzy bridge pickup, and that's about it. I don't really care about the rhythm circuit. :idk:

If I get the Jag too, I think I'll keep HB's in it. For cleans, I can't stand HB's, but for insane wall-of-fuzz stuff I miss having an HB guitar.

Plus, I can always justify it as a required pickup combo for recording demos. :poke:

If they're routed like the Classic Players (made at the same factory, so it's not exactly a stretch...), modding the switches in shouldn't be hard.

They're ugly as fuck, if they had cooler color schemes I'd grab that jazzmaster.

They're definitely not lookers of any sorts.

Although a hardtail JM without all the switches is very tempting :erm:
