help with layouts
after attempting to wire up all the guts and what not of a pedal, i finished and was only to be disgusted at how it looked. wires all over, the circuit board kind of just shoved in their, it was impossible to try to follow a wire from point A to B. So i ask, are their any good peices of literature i can read to help me plan and execute neater and more efficient layouts?

It's all about planning ahead. Your layout issue is of the offboard variety and that comes down to being organized...and OCD doesn't hurt. Unfortunately I don't know of any reading off the top of my head for help with that.

That's how I do it:
Drill everything (plan ahead so that everything fits!), add colors/decals/..., then put everything in there (pots, switches, jacks, LED, standoffs) and solder the wires to the board. Next step is to try which wire length is fine for each wire & then solder that wire to the point where it belongs. Usually I start with the LED, jumpers on switches and between jacks/pots, next are connections between switch and board, followed by connections between board and pots and as the last connections those between power jack/battery snap and board. Then I connect all ground wires to have a star ground (I usually use the out jack since I usually have more room there).
Works pretty nice for me.
